Search wide, book narrow
Metasearch is at its best when your plans are flexible. Flexible-date grids, nearby airports and multi-city tools regularly find combinations that are meaningfully cheaper than the obvious search, and price alerts turn a purchase into a decision you make on your terms.
Once you know the number, check the airline or hotel directly. Direct bookings are easier to change, easier to refund and easier to escalate.
The cheapest result is not always the cheapest trip
Aggregators surface prices from agencies with very different service standards. A small saving evaporates the first time you need to change a name, add a bag or rebook a cancelled leg through a call centre that treats you as a third party.
